Michfly

About This Project

Michfly catalogs Michigan dry fly patterns by origin, tyer, era, hatch, river, season, materials, recipe, history, and tying video. Every origin claim is cited and labeled solid, likely, disputed, or unverified, because fly-tying lore doesn’t have peer-reviewed journals to keep track of things like this.

I had been sitting on a database of flies I collected that were made in Michigan. The idea was to tie up classic Michigan flies for Michigan rivers. It occured to me that other anglers might want to do the same and I also found the history a bit interesting.
